OG Ron C Tased, Assaulted in Houston - March 5, 2009

Houston's own and President of the Go-Dj's, OG Ron-C was allegedy assualted on Thursday Feb.26, at Houston night club "Toc bar" according to website "keepittrill.com.

The assualt occurred at the hands of club bouncers. Here is an official statement from his publicist,

“Ronald Cole, known throughout the entertainment industry as OG Ron C, President of the GO DJ Coalition and respected business man, was roughed up, tasered unconscious, and dumped on the floor of Houston nightclub Toc Bar” said Nancy. The alleged assault came after what was said to be a verbal and non-confrontational conversation over the treatment of one of the popular dj’s friends.

Ron gave no resistance after being placed in a chokehold from behind, where he was eventually rendered unconscious from a taser gun.

“I turn to go see what’s going on and from behind, security grabs me in a choke hold where they held me until I passed out… I wake up shaking, on the ground, inside the club, people are trying to help me up and saying ‘Dogg u got tazed.’ Ron C stated regarding the incident. “Onlookers, including my friends begin to tell me that 3 security dudes had set upon me. One dude choking me, one dude holding my ankles and another dude came and tased me. The part that really makes me mad is not the fact that they tased me, but they tased me in the throat, making me feel like they were trying to kill me. I was in genuine fear for my life.” Ron also wanted to make note that he was not under the influence during the altercation, as he does not drink alcohol.

“I have personally witnessed the unnecessary tasing of people who were offering up little or no resistance, in clubs where people had to go through metal detectors, as well as get personally patted down to enter – meaning they were clearly unarmed” stated Nancy about recent events. “Someone is going to get seriously hurt, or killed, if this is not addressed. Some of these guys are not even licensed to carry weapons and the club owners should be held accountable.”

An official police report has been filed and Ron-c is pursuing further actions. There have been numerous reports of other incidents happening at the club.

Chris Brown and Rihanna are back Together - March 2, 2009

According to People magazine Chris Brown and Rihanna are back together. They have reportedly been sighted in Miami at one of Ditty's vacation homes. I kinda expected it to happen as I really believe that they are ODed on each other. I pray that Chris is getting counseling to deal with his issues as well as Rihanna. With God's help they can make it.

Now a lot of people want to throw Chris out with the dog's and make Rihanna out to be crazy for giving him a second chance. But, hells bells, Chris is just a kid and so is she!!!! I hate how people don't want to give anybody a second chance. We all make mistakes, and if the beatdown really happened, there is no excuse, but still we all deserve a second chance.

But anyway, that's my rant for now. I pray that they both go on to have a happy life.

F*&k the haters!

Lil Wayne Producers Play N Skillz Lead Dallas Hip-Hop Scene - March 1, 2009

We are blessed,' Play, of the double-Grammy-winning duo, says.

DALLAS — Play N Skillz could definitely get used to this. Two Grammy ceremonies, two Grammy Awards — the brothers from Dallas, haven't come away empty-handed yet.

"We are blessed," Play said the day after this year's Grammy Awards. Play and his brother Skillz won a Grammy in 2007 for their work on Chamillionaire's "Ridin' Dirty" and, just a few weeks ago, took another trophy home when Lil Wayne was honored with Rap Album of the Year. The duo produced the monster "Got Money."

"It was the best album of 2008; one of the best albums in a long time, hip-hop-wise," Play said of Lil Wayne's latest LP. "It's a blessing to be a part of Tha Carter III and have a single."

The fact that "Got Money" even made it into Lil Wayne's hands is a miracle. The track was originally erased by an engineer, and the duo had to make it all over from scratch. Then, Slim Thug, Plies and Pitbull all recorded verses over the instrumental at one time or another, but due to label politics or creative differences chose not to use the song for their projects. T-Pain then took custody of the record, but sat on it for so long that Play N Skillz almost asked for it back. Eventually, Pain passed the record to Wayne, who worked his magic.

"It was a marathon," Play said. "That album had so many release dates ... then we was hoping our song didn't get leaked. We was hoping that this song didn't end up on DJ Drama's Gangsta Grillz 28 and then don't make it to the album."

Juan Carlos "Play" Salinas and his sibling Oscar "Skillz" have been dreaming of making music since they were kids. The two were born to Venezuelan immigrants and lived a large part of their lives in a two-bedroom apartment. When their parents saw how serious the DJs-turned-producers were about making music, they moved to the living room and let the brothers convert the master bedroom into a mini-studio. Play N Skillz would eventually pay their parents back by buying them a house, which was a great surprise to mom and pops.

Before their big breakthrough with Chamillionaire, Lil' Flip put them in the game with his You Gotta Feel Me LP. Now cats such as 50 Cent, Bun B and, of course, T-Pain and Lil Wayne hit them up regularly for tracks. On the night they spoke to MTV News in Dallas, they had three different sessions going with Slim Thug, Pitbull and Paul Wall, all longtime friends.

"For Paul, we're trying to push the envelope with this one," Skillz said.

"Everyone's heard him on screwed and chopped records ... Jermaine Dupri did a good job on a couple records with him," Play added. "We're trying to do something a little different with him, and he's willing to take a chance. We're recording a song called 'Cadillac' right now. It's an ode to all the Cadillacs we ride out here. It sounds like he's talking to a woman, like he's in love with a woman, but it's his car. It's a remake of a Ready For the World record. It's something different for Paul."

As for Slim, the brothers — who released their own album in 2004, The Process — say it's a miracle they even are getting work done with Thugger, as they usually go to the club instead of record. Pitbull is the wild card.

"Pit is incredible," Skillz added. "He works fast."

"You just gotta keep up with him," Play chimed in. "He's one of those guys you never know what's gonna happen. He can give you a girl record, he'll make a house record, he can tear you up lyrically. It's always fun working with him. There's nothing we can't try."

In addition to working with established acts, Play N Skillz are looking forward to helping some of the local talent blow, like their artists Bug Tuck and Tum Tum. They say that Dallas' new burgeoning music scene is primed for mainstream love.

"The wave of technology has really helped people," Play said of songs such as the GS Boyz's "Stanky Legg" and B-Hamp's "Do the Ricky Bobby" that have gotten big on the Internet and are starting to spread nationally on radio. "Now records are getting started on YouTube and MySpace. They get popular there and, believe it or not, some of these [radio] programmers are going onto these Web sites and looking for talent."

Dallas has a lot to offer! In the coming days, we're bringing you details on the city's burgeoning hip-hop movement — from dances to fashion to hairstyles and, of course, the music. We got it all, so keep checking back for more during Dallas Week.

SOLANGE KNOWLES - KNOWLES 'HOSPITALISED AFTER PASSING OUT' - February 27, 2009

R&B star SOLANGE KNOWLES was admitted to hospital when she collapsed after downing flu pills on a flight out of New York on Tuesday night (17Feb09).

Beyonce's younger sister was treated by medics after taking the capsules onboard a plane and suffering an adverse reaction to the medication.

Her muddled mental state was laid bare in a series of bizarre postings on social networking website Twitter.com which she uploaded during the journey.
But three hours into the trip, her messages suddenly stopped after she complained of feeling sleepy - and three hours later she logged back on to the website to tell fans: "Woaah...... How'd I end up in the hospital?"

Knowles is believed to have been heading back to her home in Los Angeles after attending the opening of an Armani store in New York on Tuesday evening.

In a series of Twitter postings during the flight, she told fans how she had swallowed Ny
Quil tablets to treat a cold.

She wrote: "I took a nyquil and i think maybe im getting high off it because im not sleeping. maybe i should close my eyes..."
Minutes later she added, "think im certified loosing (sic) it on nyquil. going to sleep before i start freestyling on the plane... omg (Oh my God) i didnt know nyquil could do this to you. i took the pills tho. cant stomach cough syrup. trying to be proactive on this flight."

She then added: "Never taking nyquil again. I feel so weird."
The singer left further apparently random messages about various musicians and having "freezing" feet, before a break of three hours.

She then logged on again and wrote: "Woaah...... How'd I end up in the hospital? Woke up to 8 random people over me, laid out on the floor in baggage claim!... Guess I passed out! Scary. Hooked up to IV now . Apparantly I'm super dehydrated.

"I've never passed out before. S**t was like the movies. People standing over me saying 'hello'... My mom is the best. LOL (laugh out loud). She's like 'Ain't nothing wrong with this girl, she need some water and rest... Pull up the car!' LOL

"I'm like still in shock. I've never passed out before. Think it was the nyquil too. I felt weird when I woke up. This has been the day from hell. I'm done with the second IV. I just want to get in the bed and lay with (son) Julez. That's all I want.

The singer later confirmed she had been released following treatment, writing: "I'm out! yay!... they let me go..... Rest. Water. Rest. Water."

Dwayne Wade Sues Wife Over STD Allegation - February 27, 2009

By Associated Press feb. 2009

Dwyane Wade sued his estranged wife and two of her lawyers Wednesday over accusations the Miami Heat star contracted a sexually transmitted disease through an extramarital affair.

In the lawsuit, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press, Wade is seeking at least $50,000 in damages from each defendant.

Siohvaughn Wade said last month the player infected her with an unspecified disease in 2007. Weeks later, she withdrew the claim from the court hearing the divorce case for unknown reasons.

That wasn’t enough to satisfy the 2006 NBA finals MVP, who said her allegations not only defamed him, but caused “embarrassment” and “humiliation” along with damaging future earning potential.

“It has been difficult to see false allegations, rumors and gossip repeatedly discussed in public about my personal life,” Dwyane Wade said in a statement released to the AP. “I had no other choice but to file this action in order to clear my name.”

Wade declined further comment.

The All-Star guard also lists attorneys Michael Berger and Dorene Marcus as defendants, along with their firms, contending they wronged him in the same manner as his estranged wife. The suit was filed in Chicago, where the divorce proceedings have gone on for nearly a year.

“Mr. Wade has been the victim of a reckless campaign by Siohvaughn Wade and her lawyers to publicly humiliate him and damage his reputation,” Joe Power, an attorney representing the Heat player, said in a statement to the AP. “To clear the public record from these false and malicious allegations, we have filed a defamation suit in court … and will seek appropriate compensation for damages.”

Siohvaughn Wade’s claim made “by and through her attorneys, and disseminated by various print and online media throughout the world placed plaintiff Dwyane Wade in a false light,” according to the lawsuit.

“We believe there’s absolutely no merit to it,” Berger said. “I believe that the lawsuit will get dismissed. It seems interesting to me Wade would file a lawsuit like this when he supposedly wants to keep a low profile. This lawsuit will put his entire private and social life in full view of the public.”

Berger added that even though the original claim by Siohvaughn Wade was withdrawn, “Mrs. Wade has stood behind her allegations.”

In the allegations filed in January, along with the claims of affairs and being infected with an STD, Siohvaughn Wade said her husband abandoned their children and goes weeks at a time without speaking to them. She added that the paternal relationship was so severed that her younger son cries uncontrollably when he’s around and he does not recognize Dwyane Wade as his father.

Siohvaughn Wade’s withdrawal of the claim wouldn’t prevent her from resubmitting it to court at a later date. The divorce proceedings are not expected to end anytime soon.

Dwyane Wade’s private life has been tabloid fodder for several months, a span that largely coincides with his split from his high school sweetheart.

A recent story in The Palm Beach Post, based on comments made by a former business partner of Dwyane Wade — a person who’s filed suit against him, alleging breach of contract in a failed restaurant deal — said Wade used a rented Miami apartment for sex parties and smoked marijuana.

Wade’s representatives denied that story, dismissing it as lies from someone seeking a payoff from the NBA star.

Dwyane and Siohvaughn Wade began dating as teens and continued their relationship through college. He starred at Marquette, leading his team to the Final Four before being drafted with the No. 5 overall pick in 2003 by Miami.

The couple married in 2002 and have two children, the older of whom was born three months before the wedding. Their second son was born in 2007.

Through the tumult, Wade has been having the best season of his career in many statistical areas. He entered play Wednesday as the NBA’s second-leading scorer.

“He’s done a tremendous job just focusing on the team and the game when he’s in this building,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “In many ways, this can be a sanctuary, not just a place of work, but a place of escape and he’s got a great way of compartmentalizing things in his life.”

Dr. Dre new song "topless" leaks as DJ Envy in New York played the possible detox track last week. - February 26, 2009

Just like "Crack the bottle" before it, fans are so hungry for Dr. Dre. songs that they are snatching them even before Dre. gets to lay his vocals.

On Wednesday (February 18), another Dre song hit New York airwaves. DJ Envy played a song called "Topless" that featured Nas and T.I. but no Dre. The song has a rough mix but is still bangin'.

Tip starts the song with a verse that sounds ghostwritten and meant to be rapped by Dre. Tip starts the verse with "It's the D.R.," then Tip raps. "Made the West side worldwide, no PR/ Gangsta-rap god, I'm the end all, be all/ California love from the Bloods to the C-Dogs."
Then tip further raps
"Face it, you'll never be greater than the Doc, ask 'Pac," he raps. Tip was recently in the studio with Dre during Grammy weekend.

Then Nas hits the track with a heated verse. He explodes on the beat with vintage Nas lines: "Your skin's a travelling bag of your existence/ Yours is shabby and scabbed while mine's glistening/ Vivid on my skin how many continents I visit then/ You can journey with me to different places by listening."

Dre's Detox LP has been promised for years now. A few weeks ago, the song "Crack a Bottle" hit mixtapes, and people wondered whether it would be on Detox or Eminem's upcoming Relapse. The track will actually be featured on 50 Cent's Before I Self Destruct.

UPDATE: Chris Brown Film Career could be in danger.. - February 25, 2009

According to Wooha, Sony is removing Chris Brown from all posters, trailers and TV ads from the movie, Bone Deep. Industry insiders are saying that his film career is in jeopardy.

UPDATE: Rihanna Makes Statement

“At the request of the authorities, Rihanna is not commenting about the incident involving Chris Brown,” read a statement released by Rubenstein Public Relations. “She wants to assure her fans that she remains strong, is doing well, and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time.”

UPDATE: A photo that appears to be Rihanna’s face with bruises, scratches and swelling from an attack allegedly at the hands of boyfriend Chris Brown was posted Thursday night by TMZ.

The close-up image shows a welt above each of the woman’s eyebrows, marks on her cheek and around her lips, and general swelling. TMZ did not say how it obtained the photo, when it was taken or by whom. Hours after the photo was posted, the Los Angeles Police Department launched an internal investigation and asked for the public’s help in finding the person who leaked it.

A police news release said the image “has the appearance” of one taken during a domestic violence investigation, and classified its release as a case of serious misconduct that could result in termination.
Asked earlier Thursday whether he could confirm the photo’s origin, LAPD Officer Jason Lee said only that the department had not released images of the woman who accused Brown, and would not release evidence photos. A spokeswoman for the district attorney said all evidence related to the case was still with police.U’Umbrella’ singer Rihanna is reportedly unsure about helping police build a case against boyfriend Chris Brown, who left her with facial bruising and severe headaches a week after an alleged fight took place.

It has been reported that during the fight Chris Brown got physical and hit Rihanna several times in the face.

The singer, according to Us Weekly magazine, visited doctors days after the incident after suffering from constant headaches. And while her parents are urging her to cooperate with police as much as possible, Rihanna doesn’t seem so sure and is worried about how jail time could affect Chris Brown’s career.

Other tabloids are also reporting that Rihanna has mixed feelings about Chris Brown.

The National Enquirer

”Even after what Chris did to her, Rihanna is crazy about him and she’s forgiven him … They’ve been talking on the phone, and they’ve agreed that once the legal problems are ironed out, they’ll be together.”

Star Magazine

”She has reached out to him on numerous occasions, both calling and texting him with the message: Miss you, Love, peace and hope u r ok’ … She keeps saying she wants to make sure that he’s okay. She thinks this will all blow over and they can go back to how they were.”

In Touch

”She hates Chris but still loves him at the same time … [they] spoke a few times since the incident, and they’ve relayed messages back and forth through a friend.”

T-Pain Cancels Show After Receiving “Credible Death & Kidnapping Threats” - February 24, 2009

R&B singer T-Pain has canceled a concert in Guyana after receiving what a promoter calls “credible death and kidnapping threats.”

Kerwin Bollers says Monday’s performance for Carnival celebrations was called off after e-mail and phone threats from an unidentified source.

Police Commander Leroy Bollers reporters Sunday that authorities will investigate.

T-Pain would have been one of the best-known U.S. singers to perform in the South American nation in years.

Legally named Faheem Najm, his stage moniker is short for “Tallahassee Pain” in reference to the Florida city where he was born.

He is credited with popularizing synthesizer-assisted vocals in R&B, and recorded the albums “Rappa Ternt Sanga” and “Epiphany.”

Hammertime: MC Hammer gets his own reality TV series - February 23, 2009

He's Too Legit to Quit! MC Hammer is the latest washed-up musician to snag their own reality TV show, following in the footsteps of Bret Michaels, Reverend Run, Flavor Flav, and countless others. The Hammer's show, which will air on that once-reputable network A&E, will be called, of course, Hammertime; other names considered include: Dancin' Machine, This Is The Way We Roll, and The Funky Headhunter.

Executive producer J.D. Roth said the show likely will have the feel of an unscripted version of the Huxtable family from "The Cosby Show."

"Here's a dad with five kids, married to the same woman for more than 23 years, living in the same place where he grew up and going to church every Sunday," Roth said. "He's had his ups and downs, and it's what makes him such a character you root for."

Luther Campbell ‘Uncle Luke’ Denies Arrest Due To Child Support - February 23, 2009

As previously reported, Luther Campbell was allegedly arrested due to failing to pay child support according to the Miami Herald. The rapper/CEO was taken into custody on Tuesday night at the Miami Dade’s pretrial detention center and was released after paying the amount owed which was a little over $10,000.

Luther Campbell is now making claims that the report made by Miami Herald was untrue as to why he had been arrested. In a statement Campbell states, “The story in yesterday’s Miami Herald gives a false impression about my arrest on Tuesday. The arrest had nothing to do with “allegedly owing” over ten thousand dollars in a child support case. I have acknowledged that I am the father of the child in question and I am fully up to date on his child support.”

According to Campbell, he was arrested for not paying the attorney fees of his child’s mother who he has been in an ongoing legal dispute with.

“This past Tuesday I was at the courthouse on other business. When the sheriff learned of my presence on the premises, he had me arrested although the Florida constitution states that a person cannot be jailed for consumer debt. I was released from jail only after I paid the lawyer’s fees of the child’s mother,” Campbell stated.

Campbell goes on to state that there is a larger problem, “It’s one in which African-American fathers are routinely demonized as “deadbeat dads” by the legal system. It’s more accurate to call me a “denied dad.” I wanted the right to visit my child. I wanted shared parental rights. The child’s mother opposed my wishes. The court ruled in her favor. In fact, you don’t have to be a black man to face this kind of bias.”

The entrepreneur ends talking about how he contributes to the inner city neighborhoods everyday for two hours in Miami and that he works with not only teens but their parents.

“I work with their parents — mothers and fathers — who are having a hard time raising their children by dealing with the potholes in society today. Running from the responsibilities of taking care of my very own son is the last thing I would do,” says Campbell.
