Etta James insults President Barak and Says She will Kick Beyonce's A@@

(At Last) Etta James insults Beyonce and President Obama
written by Veronica Boodhan

Looks like there is another old versus new battle.

While many people thought it was a fitting touch for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama to have their first inaugural dance to At Last, Etta James is not pleased with Beyonce's rendition.

During a concert in Seattle, James, 71, told the audience, "You know, your President, the one with the big ears - he ain’t my President - had that woman singing for him at his Inauguration. She’s going to get her ass whooped."

The songstress went on to say, "How dare Beyonce sing my song that I been singing forever. Now I’m going to sing it for y’all."

You can listen to the audio below.

Did she forget that Beyonce portrayed her in Cadillac Records, a film about the life and career of Etta James?

Aretha Franklin must be somewhere laughing her hat off.

Rev Run's Words Of Wisdom: On Adversity - February 8, 2009

Good morning. Manure is always needed to have healthy, strong growth.... REMEMBER... Adversity is NOT our greatest enemy..

Someone once said.. “Cripple a man and you're Sir Walter Scott.. Lock him in prison and you have John Bunyan.. Bury him in the snows of Valley Forge and you have George Washington. Raise him in poverty and you have Abraham Lincoln.. Deafen him and you'll have Ludwig van Beethoven. Call him a slow learner, retarded, and write him off as uneducatable and you'll have Albert Einstein..”

(Have a great week!) Go get em!

Russell Simmons Takes On Editor-In-Chief Role At GlobalGrind.com - February 7, 2009

Russell Simmons can now add Editor-In-Chief to his repertoire. The former CEO of Def Jam Records announced the full launch of GlobalGrind.com last week, in which he would act as the head of the editorial department.

According to Simmons, GlobalGrind.com is the "Huffingpost of Hip-Hop," which will act as a platform for artists to talk to the world.

"This site is the Huffingpost of Hip-Hop," Simmons said during a press conference last week. "Artists can speak to other artists, the media, and the world through this site."

"The opportunity to be Editor-In-Chief of Global Grind is an exciting and remarkable responsibility that I readily accept," the mogul added in a recent blog about the new position. "This is another chance for me further to serve the interests of the hip-hop community."

Globalgrind.com will link to hundreds of sites bolstering news content, and will serve as a social platform for the hip-hop community.

In addition to featuring news, GlobalGrind.com has also launched a "Celebrity Blogger" section that will feature more than 40 celebs -- including LL Cool J, Toccara, DJ Whoo Kid, Ne-Yo, Nas, Jim Jones, and executive Kevin Liles to name a few. The site encourages interaction between celebrities and users, while each featured blogger brings their own style and opinions on various topics.

Kevin Liles brings his executive level thinking with his first blog about "Being Presidential." "We must all step up, step out on faith, find our will and make it happen. President Obama's thrill of victory has inspired me to encourage 'The New Cool.' It is to be Presidential," he says.

Simmons hopes that a media platform like this can play a major role in a "shift of consciousness" that hip-hop has inspired throughout the country. Other rappers agree.

"I think this is a great opportunity for me to join forces with Russell and help to better the cause of hip-hop," confessed LL COol J. "This is a culture that has grown enormously. We went from not hearing our music in the daytime to having a Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball for a new president."

Simmons added, "whether you're a celebrity, a politician, an artist, a comedian or an emerging bloger, Global Grind gives the community a powerful platform to speak to each other, the media and the world."

Check out Simmons' new site on the web at GlobalGrind.com.

President Obama and First Lady Michelle surprised by Etta James Remarks! - February 6, 2009

A white house insider told the chicago sun times that the Obamas were stunned at the remarks. So far no word on how Beyonce felt but the Obama's were to have said that they didn't see anything wrong with having Beyonce' sing the song.

I think old Etta was just hatin'.. They also were reported to have said that "Most of the younger audience probably didn't know she was still alive!"' Ouch!

I didn't know she was.... Lol

Etta said Yesterday that it was all a big Joke... Yeah right..

She told the NY Daily That her comments weren't from a visous place.
She just felt left out because she wasn't asked to sing "HER" song.. What???? It is NOT "HER" song, it was first recorded by Glen Miller in 1941 althought it was her who made it famous.

Get over it.....

PImps gotta pay taxes Too! Lol.. - February 6, 2009

Alleged Houston pimp faces prison for tax evasion

Here’s a tax tip you don’t hear often: Don’t forget to report illegal income from prostitution and other nefarious activities.

That’s what Randall Bradley Jones, 42, of Houston, learned today after pleading guilty before U.S. District Judge Melinda Harmon to one count of tax evasion for failing to inform the IRS about $665,962 in cash he picked up from what authorities said were his six houses of prostitution.

Prosecutor Charles Escher said in court that Jones and his business, Amazing Promotions Group Inc., collected the cash from the safes at the six houses he called Escape Lounges. Escher said the prostitutes put Jones’ cut of their earnings in envelopes and put them in those safes.
But unlike many who run afoul of the Internal Revenue Service, Jones didn’t get into trouble by keeping bad records.

The government knew about his ill-gotten income because a Houston police raid on the Escape Lounges in 2004 netted financial spread sheets. Escher said details included records that Jones claimed an income of $140,000 in 2003 but actually had an income of about $667,000.

“The moral of the story is, pay your taxes or you, too, may be the poster child for the tax season,” said Drew Shebay, Jones’ attorney.

Shebay would not verify that his client ever ran a prostitution ring and said he was not convicted of related activity.

But, Shebay said, “he is no longer engaged in the activity that got him in trouble here.”

Jones would not comment. He was polite about it and sat in court reading a book while waiting to plead guilty to the charge, filed just this month.

So where on the tax form should one report illegal booty?
IRS spokeswoman Robin Sabin of Houston suggests Schedule C for the small-business owner and the 1040 line “other income” for the free-lancer. She said this stuff just doesn’t show up on a W2 form.

“You should report your ill-gotten gains just like you report any legal income,” said Sabin.
She said a business name would be fine and that taxpayers needn’t spell out their illegal activity.

“It’s not that we don’t care,” she said. “We want to be able to identify the source.”
Sabin said that, unless someone is suspected of terrorism, the IRS has trouble sharing suspicions of criminal activity and would have to go through a judge to be able to tell another agency of its suspicions.

But, she said, tax-evasion cases involving illegal gain usually come to the IRS the other way — from a criminal investigation done in tandem with another agency or, as in this case, from information from other law enforcement.

“It’s like the Al Capone situation,” Sabin said. “He conducted a lot of illegal activity. It was hard to convict him, though. So what did they get him for? Tax fraud.”
When Judge Harmon asked Jones in court this morning what he had done wrong, he didn’t mention tax evasion at first. What he said was, “I deposited hundreds and hundreds of thousands in cash in banks.”

Harmon prodded him to note that he also had not reported that cash to the IRS.

Jones is to be sentenced in May and faces a maximum of five years in prison and restitution of up to about $1.2 million. He also agreed to pay a $15,000 fine to the IRS and still faces separate civil liability for what he hasn’t paid.
Jones’ sentence will depend in part on a background report by the probation department.
That is due to the judge on the week of April 15.

DIDDY SUED OVER "UNFORGIVABLE" DESIGN, ARTIST SEEKS FULL PROFITS - February 6, 2009

Hip-Hop mogul Diddy has been sued for allegedly stealing the design for his successful fragrance line Unforgivable.

The Bad Boy CEO is being accused of copying the bottles' style from a renowned artist.

In a lawsuit filed Wednesday (January 28) in US District Court, Tom Patti claimed the cologne's packaging - the bottle fits inside a stylish ridged plastic cradle - is a rip-off of two copyrighted tabletop glass sculptures he created in the early 1980s called "Compacted Gray With Clear and Ribs" and "Modulated Solar Airframe." He is seeking a halt to the use of the design and wants all profits traceable to the alleged copyright infringement. (Boston Globe)
Patti is known for his famous glass sculptures.

He has been blind in one eye since childhood, which has contributed to his interest in perception. His fascination with art and science is expressed in glass by creating spatial voids and depth to manipulate scale and perception. Patti works glass in an inventive and distinctive manner to create exquisitely precise vessel-oriented forms. Despite their small size, Patti's sculptures have a commanding presence. (Ask Art)

Diddy's Unforgivable brand's success has led to additional products.

Created by Sean "Diddy" Combs, Unforgivable was launched nationally in early February of 2006. The dramatic success of Unforgivable was followed up by Unforgivable Sensual Body Spray and now with the limited collector's edition, Unforgivable Multi Platinum. Unforgivable Multi Platinum is the ultimate expression of classic fragrance craftsmanship with a modern point of view. (Press Release)

Diddy's rep was unavailable for comment at press time.

Former Gap Band singer recovering from cancer - February 5, 2009

He's best known as the lead vocalist for the Gap Band. Now Charlie Wilson is raising his voice to narrow the knowledge gap about prostate cancer.

Wilson, who was diagnosed last fall and treated with radiation implants, says he's in remission.

The singer wants to serve up a dose of knowledge along with the funk when he tours to support his new solo album, "Uncle Charlie," due out Feb. 17.

He's urging men, especially African-Americans, to get tested. Black men are at increased risk of prostate cancer overall.

It was during a routine physical last September that a blood test turned up signs of prostate cancer. A biopsy and follow-up examination confirmed the diagnosis.

When Wilson heard his doctor utter the word cancer, "I just felt devastated," he said.

But Wilson also noticed that his doctor "had this little smile on his face" as he delivered the news. The reason, he said, was because his doctor told him: "We caught it early enough and we can knock it out."

Wilson is also spreading the message of early detection when he performs for U.S. troops serving in Iraq and Kuwait this month, and is working with the Prostate Cancer Foundation to increase awareness.

8Ball & MJG Sign With T.I.'s Grand Hustle Label - February 5, 2009

Legendary Memphis rap duo 8Ball & MJG have found a new label home, according to a fellow southern titan, T.I. There was much talk of this union going on for months but until now nothing was official.

T.I. made the announcement recently to the massive crowd at the Hot 107 Birthday bash in the ATL that Ball and G had signed to his Grand Hustle record label.

The crowd reacted with great excitement and enthusiastic cheers to the news, but gave even bigger accolades when 8Ball & MJG, came out and performed “Don’t Make” with T.I. to solidify the partnership.

Ball and G are giants in the southern rap game and are constantly mentioned with the likes of U.G.K. and the Geto Boys for their multi generational influence and appeal.

Although they hail from Memphis they have been on Diddy’s Bad Boy South label for the past few years but have not seen much come out of it with the label except for last year’s low selling “Riding High”.

No statements have been released from either side as well as no official details like when an album will be dropping or contract terms.

Now Hip-Hop, Too, is Made in China - February 5, 2009

BEIJING Over the last decade many students and working-class Chinese have been writing rap as a form of self-expression. Rougher and more rebellious than the well-scrubbed pop that floods the airwaves here, this kind of hip-hop is not sanctioned by broadcast media producers or state censors but has managed to attract a grass-roots fan base.
Hip-hop is free, like rock n roll we can talk about our lives, what were thinking about, what we feel, said Wang Liang, 25, a popular hip-hop D.J. in China who is known as Wordy. The Chinese education system doesnt encourage you to express your own character. They feed you stale rules developed from books passed down over thousands of years. Theres not much opportunity for personal expression or thought; difference is discouraged.

While American rappers like Eminem and Q-Tip have been popular in China since the 1990s, home-grown rap didnt start gaining momentum until a decade later. The group Yin Tsang (its name means hidden), one of the pioneers of Chinese rap, is made up of global nomads: a Beijinger, a Chinese-Canadian and two Americans.

The big change was when rappers started writing verse in Chinese, so people could understand, said Zhong Cheng, 27, a member of the group who was raised in Canada but born in Beijing, where he returned in 1997. Before that, kids listened to hip-hop in English but maybe less than 1 percent could actually begin to understand.

Yin Tsangs first hit was In Beijing, from the bands 2003 debut album, Serve the People (Scream Records); the title is a twist on an old political slogan. It sets a melody played on a thousand-year-old Chinese fiddle called the Erhu against a hip-hop beat that brings Run D.M.C. to mind. The song, an insiders look at Beijings sights and sounds, took the underground music scene by storm, finding its way into karaoke parlors, the Internet and even the playlist of a radio station in Beijing.

Theres a lot of cats that can rap back home, said Jeremy Johnston, a member of the group and the son of a United States Air Force captain. But theres not a lot of cats that can rap in Chinese. Mr. Johnston, 33, moved to Beijing in the late 90s because, he said, it was the thing nobody else was doing.

Since In Beijing, the Chinese hip-hop scene has quickly grown. Hiphop.cn, a Web site listing events and links to songs, started with just a few hundred members in 2007; in 2008 it received millions of views, according to one of the sites directors.

Dozens of hip-hop clubs have opened up in cities across the country, and thousands of raps and music videos by Chinese M.C.s are spreading over the Internet. But making Chinese hip-hop is still a relatively profitless and often subversive activity. Some Chinese rappers address what they see as the countrys most glaring injustices. As Wong Li, a 24-year-old from Dongbei, says in one of his freestyle raps:

If you dont have a nice car or cash
You wont get no honeys
Dont you know China is only a heaven for rich old men
You know this world is full of corruption
Babies die from drinking milk.

He often performs in a downtown Beijing nightclub and uses Chinese proverbs in his lyrics to create social commentary. Mr. Wong, who became interested in hip-hop when he heard Public Enemy in the mid-90s, said rapping helps him deal with bitterness that comes with realizing he is one of the millions left out of Chinas economic boom.

DMX Sentenced To 90 Days in Jail - February 4, 2009

Rapper DMX will spend 90 days in jail and 18 months on supervised probation on Arizona firearms and other charges, a court commissioner says.

X pleaded guilty to drug and cruelty to animals charges in relation to a raid on his home in Cave Creek, Ariz., last August. The raid uncovered 12 malnourished dogs, along with some weapons and drugs.
X, 38, also entered a guilty plea to theft charges over a incident last April in which he gave a false name and social security number while being treated at a Phoenix hospital.

Maricopa County Superior Court Commissioner Phemonia Miller tols X that he should consider “altering his lifestyle to avoid additional legal problems in the future.”

“I’m not sentencing DMX today, I’m sentencing Earl Simmons. I don’t know DMX. Mr. Simmons, it’s time to do something different. What you have been doing is not working,” Miller said at Friday’s sentencing.

The Judge also ordered X to complete 360 hours of community service, pay $3,600 in fines and offer restitution to the hospital in the form of $7,500.

Aaliyah Biopic 'Seamless as Selena' Says Director - February 2, 2009

Fans anticipating R&B singer/actress Aaliyah's forthcoming biopic can rest assured that the film is going to be as seamless as Jennifer Lopez's praised role in Selena.

According to Bill Condon, the director for the as-yet-untitled pic and famed director of the hit film 'Dreamgirls' starring Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce Knowles and Jamie Foxx, Aaliyah's biopic and its cast are studying hard to make sure the pic is up to par.

"We are going to great extremities to make this movie perfect. We have (Keisha) Chante in extensive training studying, speaking with family members, watching personal footage and in choreography training with Aaliyah's choreographer and dear friend Fatima Robinson. This movie will will be seamless the same way it was for Selena fans who enjoyed Jennifer Lopez."

In addition to Keisha Chante, who has been cast as Aaliyah, the "One In A Million" singer's choreographer Fatima Robinson, Timbaland, Ginuwine, and Missy Elliott are to be featured in the film. "Rock The Boat" music video director Hype Williams has also been tapped for the film to recreate Aaliyah's final video shoot.

Sources close to the much-anticipated film say they'll be "going deep into Aaliyah's life".

Lil Jon Off The Hook In "Weedman" Copyright Case - February 1, 2009

A judge rejected an appeal of a copyright lawsuit against Atlanta rapper Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz’ over the track “The Weedman.”

The lawsuit, which also named TVT Records, was dismissed from United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia earlier this week.

Freelance musician Redwin Wilchcombe claimed that he and his manager were members of a production team named “Red Teamwerk.”

In May of 2002, Wilchcombe met Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz at the Audio Vision recording studio, while the rappers were working on their album Kingz of Crunk.

According to the lawsuit, Lil Jon came up with the idea for the song “Weedman,” after someone in the studio suggest they call a dealer for a supply of marijuana.

Wilchcombe, who was in the recording studio, claims he came up with a hook for the record, which was to be used an in interlude or segue between the different sides of Kingz of Crunk.

Lil Jon critiqued the work and also gave input on the track, which Wilchcombe claims he authored in full and performed live for Lil Jon, who approved the words.

Lil’ Jon then allegedly mixed the track, added some vocals and released the song on the 21-track album Kingz of Crunk, which eventually sold over 2 million copies.

Wilchcombe, who filed his copyright for the work almost two years after the album was released, had no written agreement in regards to the song.

In his lawsuit, he acknowledged being a part of the creative process and granted Lil’ Jon oral permission to use the recording.

“The district court correctly found that the parties’ conduct created an implied license,“ ruled Honorable Chief Judge Robert L. Hinkle. “Wilchcombe does not dispute that he created the song for the album at Lil Jon’s request and that he instructed Taylor to send it to Lil Jon for final mixing and inclusion on the album. Wilchcombe testified in his deposition that he understood Lil Jon would use the song on the album. In addition, Wilchcombe does not dispute that when he handed over the song, he never discussed with Taylor or any of the Appellees that using the song would constitute copyright infringement.”

Because there was written contract in regards to the song to support Wilchcombe’s allegations of a breach of fiduciary duty for not being compensated, the district court dismissed his appeal.

“The district court properly rejected these arguments for this reason, and we likewise refuse to give Wilchcombe a ‘second bite at the apple.’”

JIM JONES…OBAMA=N***AS?

I reported a ways back that Jim Jones has stopped calling people the N-Word, but not substitutes it for “Obama.” So, he might say, “What’s up my Obama.” A reader recently emailed me up and expressed his discontent with the practice.

Hey dog my name is Levonn and I am now will not support anything that Jim Jones and anyone affiliated with him will ever do again. I was never a fan of his but some songs were alright. But this ignorant cat took shit to far. I listened to an interview where he now says "Obamas" in the place of "Niggas" . This shit has to be exposed for the self destructive ignorance that it is. It hurts to say this but rappers have influence over young people. I'm not saying Barack is going to solve every problem that blacks face in this county but he is a hell of a start. Jim Jones and his ignorance will only influence young kids that don't understand the significance of his election and turn it into something derogatory. I say nigga but I really plan on stopping it. Replacing it with another word to tear blacks down will not do. Please I see that you care about this country put his ass on blast!!!!!!!

NEWS: DIDDY'S FORMER GHOST WRITER CALLS PUFFY "THE DEVIL" IN BAD BOY TELL-ALL Book - January 30, 2009

Former Bad Boy rapper Mark Curry has penned a new book Dancing With the Devil speaking on his experience on the famed roster and Diddy's business habits.
A section of the text claims his former boss enforced appearance fees for Bad Boy artists.

"Even worse, Puff charged the artists for his appearances on their records and in the videos, usually without their realizing it until they received their royalty statements," the first chapter reads. "That's when they discovered that a large sum of their money had gone to fees which were doubled, tripled and even quadrupled because of Puff "special guest appearance. He charged artists, for example, for having his Bentley in their videos -- which he insisted upon -- then took a tax credit for business use of the car." (Dancing With the Devil)

The rapper was a Bad Boy artist for nearly a decade.

Mark Curry is an Atlanta-based entertainer who was signed to the Bad Boy Entertainment record label from 1997 until 2005. He wrote most of Diddy's first hit singles, including "Come With Me" from the 1998 Godzilla soundtrack featuring Led Zeppelin. (Mark Curry)

Curry has collaborated with rap stars and featured on various Bad Boy hits.

He is known for his innovative style of rapping by rhyming almost every last word on each line in his verses. His first appearances were as a featured rapper on other artists songs, most notably "Gangsta Sh*t" on Diddy's (then Puff Daddy) second album Forever along with Lil' Kim, and "Dangerous MC's" along with Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes on the Notorious BIG second posthumous release Born Again respectively. He has appeared on many other tracks in his Bad Boy career including the track he is most well known for "Bad Boy For Life" along with Black Rob in 2001 on the P. Diddy album The Saga Continues... Is Lil Wayne The New Axl Rose? / Kelly Rowland gives Matthew Knowles the Boot! - January 29, 2009

The best thing about "Prom Queen," Lil Wayne's much-discussed foray into the world of rock, is probably the intro: 20 seconds of chugging minor chords and exploding guitar frippery that manages to sound a bit like an M1 Abrams crashing into a fireworks factory (it also sounds a little bit like Hum). It is a strangely accomplished and somewhat beguiling opening — you start to believe that perhaps Wayne can actually pull this off — but then he starts singing about underwear, and it's all downhill from there.

Actually, that's not entirely true (the bit about the intro being the best part, not the bit about it all being downhill from there). The best thing about "Prom Queen" is that it actually exists.

Because, while the song is kinda lousy, there's no denying the fact that Wayne made it — and fully intended on promoting it as the first single off his "rock" album, Rebirth before it leaked earlier this week. This is real. This is actually happening. And by its very existence, "Prom Queen" is so much more than most "rock" songs, because it reveals universal truths. It is proof positive of several things.

First and foremost, Lil Wayne is crazy. For months, he claimed that he was going to record an honest-to-goodness rock album, that he was seriously considering ditching rapping altogether. Nobody seemed to believe him when he said this, perhaps because nobody believed that anyone could deliberately derail such a successful career (or perhaps because they'd seen him "play" guitar). After all, Wayne had just come off a year in which he became (arguably) the biggest rap star on the planet. He sold a million albums in a week, landed eight Grammy nominations and shilled Nike and Gatorade. To throw this all away would be beyond crazy ... and yet, Wayne decided to do just that. "Prom Queen" is proof.

Secondly, Lil Wayne gets terrible career advice. Or he gets sound career advice, but chooses to ignore it. (The latter is probably the case.) I cannot imagine anyone telling Wayne that recording a rock album would be a good idea, and yet, he did it anyway. And this also could be explained by another truth: Wayne surrounds himself with people who don't tell him "no." And, judging by "Prom Queen," perhaps "no" is the most powerful word in the English language.

In a recent interview with Billboard, the two producers who worked on the song admitted that they too were thrown by just how rock "Prom Queen" is. And when they offered to add some organs to the track — which would, admittedly, probably make the thing about 50 percent better — he told them that he didn't want them on there. For whatever reason — it's Wayne's song, after all — "Prom Queen" is what it is.

Third, that Wayne does not let a perceived lack of talent stand in the way of realizing his dreams. It's not clear how much of "Prom Queen" he played himself, though judging by the skill he's shown on the guitar to this point, I'd say it's probably somewhere in between "none" and "one bar, but only because the producers accidentally hit record while Wayne was wooshing his fingers up and down the fretboard like a hyperactive 3-year-old, and everyone was too baked to delete it later." I don't think any of that actually matters, though — Wayne the Rock Star is basically the same as Wayne the Rap Star: deceptively gifted, yet dangerously determined.

And finally — after considering all these things — Wayne is the most interesting rock star in the world. By a mile. In fact, here's an even better one: He is Axl Rose. It's not that great of a leap. Both could kindly be described as "eccentric" (or full-blown batsh--). Both promised (threatened?) to release ill-advised vanity projects, neither listening to the doubters who sniggered that it would never happen and the advisers who said it would be a terrible idea. To extend the comparison, Wayne's Rebirth is basically Rose's Chinese Democracy, minus 15 years and millions of dollars. ("Prom Queen" actually sounds like one of the more industrial tracks on Democracy.) It will probably garner the same reception, both critically and commercially.

Like Wayne, it's fairly obvious — given Democracy's epic time in the oven and its uneven marketing scheme — that no one ever told Rose "no," either. Or if they did, he certainly didn't listen (or he fired them). The only difference between the two seems to be talent. I will begrudgingly admit that, when it comes to singing, Weezy F. Baby is no W. Axl Rose. But it's 2009. Auto-Tune is everywhere. Since when does singing matter, anyway?

All of this might be complete nonsense. Rebirth might never see the light of day (actually, given Wayne's track record with release dates, this seems very possible). But "Prom Queen" exists. This cannot be denied. And that existence is meaningful. Take a look at this week's Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The top five features songs by Shinedown, Disturbed, Nickelback, Mudvayne and Seether. It is probably the most depressing list in history. None of these songs make you feel anything ... they reveal no truths (except Nickelback's "Something In Your Mouth," which affirms that, yes, you would look better with something in your mouth). And that's why Wayne's song is better than each of them. Not, you know, musically; universal truth-ily. And that's important. Axl would be proud. Or jealous.

Kelly Rowland splits from Beyonce's manager dad
2 hours ago

NEW YORK (AP) — Kelly Rowland says she will always be a part of Beyonce's family, but she no longer will be managed by the superstar's father. Rowland and Matthew Knowles announced Wednesday that he is bowing out as her manager. He's guided her career since she was kid, when he put her in Destiny's Child along with Beyonce. He even helped raise her.
Both Rowland and Knowles — who still manages daughter Beyonce — called the split amicable. Both say they will always be family.
Rowland has sold millions of records as part of Destiny's Child, but her solo career hasn't matched that success.
Rowland — who turns 27 next month — did not say who her new manager will be.
